Among the most stunning sites in Phan Thiet is Bau Trang, or the white sand dunes, located 25 kilometres north of Pandanus. The dazzling contrast between the deep blue lake, the bright green lotus plants along the shoreline and the white dunes make for colourful pictures. Vendors rent quad bikes, dune buggies and plastic sleds to ride down the dunes. You’ll love the beautiful views and the unique terrain.

A one-hour drive from the resort is Ta Cu Mountain, site of the largest reclining Buddha in Southeast Asia. Start at the foot of the mountain and climb 1,000 steps to the Buddha, or take the scenic gondola ride to within 300 steps from the Buddha. Ta Cu features incredible views of rice fields and dragon fruit farms below, plus on a clear day, the high rises of Ho Chi Minh City are visible. On the return trip to Pandanus, we stop at a local dragon fruit farm to learn more about this unique fruit and sample it at its freshest.

Just over a hundred kilometres north of the Pandanus in Ninh Thuan Province is the site of the previous capital of ancient Champa. Pandanus staff created a unique tour to Panduranga, as it was known to the Cham people. While most of the ancient Cham temples throughout Vietnam have fallen into disrepair, two Cham temples in Panduranga have been preserved and are included on the tour, which also makes stops at My Nghiep Weaving Village and Bau Truc Pottery Village where artisans still use traditional techniques to create works of art.
